| Three things to remember about tyres: |
|
Inflate a radial tyre to the correct pressure and it will provide a long “footprint” on the soil: the single most important factor in determining traction and efficiency. |
|
Use the largest tyres permitted at the lowest inflation pressures allowed. |
|
Demand quality. Your John Deere dealer has a wide selection of front and rear tyres that are ideally suited for your new 8R Series tractors. |

Choose tyres that best suit the
application (e.g. transporting,
seeding and cultivating, major
dual-wheel operations, in-furrow
ploughing). |

Long footprints and large contact
areas increase traction and efficiency.
Flexible tyres and low inflation
pressures minimise soil compaction
and maximise traction. Always use
your Operator’s Manual to adjust
inflation pressures. |

Clamp-on dual wheels improve
flotation and reduce soil compaction
in light duty applications such
as seeding. |

Give productivity more weight.
Correct ballasting maximises performance in the field.
Too little weight applied to the tyres will result in slippage. And, if tractor power increases, tractor ballast should increase as well. Simply put: you must have the correct
weight on your front and rear axles. |

A tractor correctly ballasted for a given type of implement has the correct total weight distribution. |
|
Where you apply ballast depends on the type of implement being used and the fleld travel speed. |
|
Liquid ballast should only be used in tyres when other ballast options are not available. |
